I MUST RETURN TO ATLETICO MADRID -DIEGO COSTA
Diego
Costa has released an official statement asking Chelsea to allow him a move
back to his former club, Atletico Madrid.
Costa
last appeared for the Blues in a losing effort after a 2-1 defeat to Arsenal in
the FA Cup final back in May, after which manager Antonio Conte informed him
that he was no longer part of his plans via a controversial text message
shortly after the end of last season.
The
Spain international’s future has been up in the air all summer, with AC Milan
also linked with him on occasion due to Atletico’s issues with a transfer ban
until January.
But
the 28-year-old has now issued a firm demand of his own as he expects to make
the move back to Atletico.
“My future is already defined,” he said. “I
must return to Atletico Madrid.
“It
turns out that there is the impasse that Chelsea does not want to release me.
“But
I believe that this situation will be resolved now on my return to Spain,” said
the striker, who is currently in Brazil.
Costa
joined Chelsea from Atletico back in 2014, and was Chelsea’s highest goal
scorer last season.
